It was a great morning spent at sea with Fransisco and his family! Although there is still a definite chill in the early morning air, we were blessed with calm seas that made for easy spotting.
A little up the coastline we observed a small nursery pod who were slowly traveling north. The pod made their way to the bow and it was not long before the two mums were identified. Local #dolphinsofponta Gilly and her little boy were there, as was Tatti @04:42 with her spritely little babe who is now only 7 months old.

In April we recorded a pesky remora on the little one and interestingly enough the scavenging hitchhiker is still there four months later; and just like spinner dolphins try to dislodge the little pests by spinning, so too have we noticed this attempted dislodging technique with our bottlenose, although the attempts have not yet been mastered by this little one!
In-water it was a great observation of the dolphin kind! Sliding in, we were approached by the ladies with their kids, and after seemingly sussing out safely, Gilly’s boy and a young female were permitted to visit amongst the humans! The two of them took a special shining to Candice @02:10 who, given her frequent visits the dolphins know well! Sadly the visibility was rather on the green side, however with sociable, in your face dolfriends it was all good!
The encounter ended with Gilly calling it time with a slight reprimand to the young dolphin that just wanted to visit.
